Rock Iguanas
Below are rock iguanas. Rock iguanas look
similar to dinosaurs. Many rock iguanas live on the Little
Cayman Island which is where these pictures of rock iguanas
were taken. Rock iguanas are cold blooded reptiles with
scale all over their bodies. Rock iguanas have no
body temperature regulation system. That is why you see many
iguanas sitting still in the sun. Rock iguanas do this for
warmth. This process is called thermoregulation which is common
for all iguanas, not just rock iguanas.
What do rock iguanas eat?
Rock iguanas eat fruit, flowers and
leaves.
Rock iguanas like to live alone. Their
biggest threats on the Little Cayman Island are uncontrolled
dogs, cats, people, and getting hit by cars. Rock iguanas, like
other types of iguanas, are very calm reptiles. They will stay
still and don't move until they feel threatened. Below are
great pictures of rock iguanas.
